The Importance of a Pedestrian Stop Light

Traffic signs can sometimes be confusing, sometimes wrongly enforced, and sometimes even found to be useless. But there’s nothing more universal and clear than the colors red and green: Red for STOP, Green for GO.  None of this red means go faster nonsense.  If you subscribe to that, you’re an idiot and you don’t have road manners, and therefore don’t deserve to be driving.

And it seems this syndrome afflicts even those who are not inside moving vehicles.  Behold a classic example of how even pedestrians disregard stop lights: they cross even on the red.  The Ayala Center has been improved to provide pedestrian stop lights at crossings already to ensure safety first and foremost, and the efficient flow of vehicular and human traffic.  However, it only works if people follow them.

Pedestrian Stop Light Fail, Pedestrian Stop Light, Pedestrian, Stop Light, How to Cross the Street

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to follow something as basic as STOP and GO.  This is just one of several common road rules that require nothing but common sense.  If we want discipline from our drivers, pedestrians should learn to respect rules also.
