Malcolm’s Burger – Wagyu Burger, Wine, World Cup

It was a rainy Friday evening last week and we were hungry after a long day at work.  It was a debate between eating now to let the rain die down or driving closer to home and searching for a place to eat there.  Waiting the rain out won and we found ourselves at Malcolm’s in the Fort.

And wow, were we happy or what we made that decision.  We spent the night just raving in between bites of their wagyu burger and sips of wine.

They actually have a set meal of about P499++ that already includes a starter (soup or salad), a main course, and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Now that is good value.

The Wagyu burger just melted in your mouth and blended well with the mild taste of the cheese.  I had our burger cooked medium well but it came out a bit medium.  Something I’ve learned about giving instructions for how you like your meat cooked, you should always choose something in between because chances are they could over or undercook it.  So you’re better with something in between, not too rare for you and not too well done for your taste also.

The rest of our Friday night budget went to some good wine.  We had a Reisling wine and that’s what we finished while the game between Portugal and Brazil came on.

To be honest, I am not a World Cup fan and that was the first-ever game I had watched in my entire life.  Despite my lack of any athletic and sporty bone in my body, I actually got excited over the game. And yes, part of the consolation was the fact that they kept closing up on Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal.

I like how Malcolm’s is tucked away in a quiet corner and you can enjoy your meal in peace and really appreciate it.

Overall, our Friday night was a good job.  Next time, we plan to try the wagyu sisig.

Malcolm’s Burgers is at the ground floor of Fairways Tower in the Fort, 5th Avenue corner McKinley.

Next time you order a Wagyu, pls don’t order it beyond medium-rare. The difference between a wagyu and other prime cuts is that wagyu has more marbling, lots of fats. So, beyond medium-rare means you ruined your wagyu. So next time save yourself some $$$.

That’s interesting. I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve just never been able to eat meat that’s not cooked enough. (And here I thought my graduation from well-done to medium-well was already an achievement…) Thanks for the tip. I’ll give it a shot next time I order Wagyu.

It’s actually one of the best burgers we’ve tried. As long as it’s cooked medium to medium well. 🙂 But my first place still goes to Boulevard Diner. Have you tried that?
